ansi 14.5 latest rev guidance on mixing frac. and dec.
where does it say (subsection, chapter, paragraph, page, etc.) in ansi 14.5 (94 ed. et.al.) that it is not permissible to mix fraction dimensions and tolerances and decimal dimensions and tolerances when using the "inch" system? in this case the mechanical design drawing border tolerance block has provisions for fraction dimensions as well as provisions for .xx and .xxx decimal dimensions. why is this regarded in some circles as a major faux pas?

check out our whitepaper library.
did the faux pas apply to mixing the two formats on the surface of the draft or only in the tb?
ccw-
i think it would be a major faux paus to mix fractional and decimal dimensions in the same drawing but there certainly is nothing wrong with having decimal and fractional default "block" tolerances defined on the title sheet in the format (or in a general note for that matter).

jdo2ley,
the faux pas occured on the surface of the draft.

tunalover,
why do you think it would be a major faux paus?

ccw-
now that i think of it, what's wrong with doing that? in hindsight, why would this not be acceptable?
