hi everybody, i would like to know
hi everybody, i would like to know which cad software comes close to meeting asme y14.41?
i don't know the details but solid edge has made strides in this direction.
imo, they are all similar. it mostly depends on your settings and how you use it.

solidworks 07 4.0/pdmworks 07
autocad 06
i would have to agree with chris. the way i see it complete implementation of asme y14.41 will take a change the way we do business. i for one feel very apprehensive about sending out parametric data to vendors

i agree with chris. most cad systems are able to meet the requirements of y14.41. that is not to say that they can all support total part definition without a drawing, but the standard does allow for shortcomings in permitting reduced dimension drawings.
as for a drawingless cad system, i know that progress is being made, but i don't have the personal experience invoking the standard to say just how completely the system i use meets it.
