ansi why is ansi b18.2.1 not l
just wondering if anyone knew why ansi specs now are designated as ansi /asme b18.2.1 or just plain asme b18.2.1
was there a transistion somewhere.
i am looking for the ansi spec, but it is actually located on asme website.
just wondered.... i know they are the same specs.

although b18.2.1 is "an american national standard" the writers and committees are asme. the current version is asme b18.2.la-1999. few standards are ansi standards. most standards were written by anoterh professional society and adapted as a national standard once widely accepted. also, with more iec interaction, fewer new standards are identified as ansi .

ansi y14.5 is also now asme y14.5.
you will see a lot of these transitions.
