gyroscope manufacture
any member participate in the manufacture of gyroscopes for avionics applications. i am currently dealing with bearing failures on gyros and have been dimensionally analysing components. is there a specific material/process characteristic(s) i should be looking out for?

"failure" is too broad. you should find out what caused the failure, e.g., overload, overspeed, contamination, corrosion.....it's a long list, and two or more problems can combine to cause failure. the bearing will often tell you what happened.
if you can define the problem, it may be easier to find the solution.
unfortunately, the one remaining manufacturer of the gyro we used has changed 4 times in the last 10 years; and the quality has slowly degraded.
my suspicion is that the recipe is no longer followed nor understood. your best bet is to get someone to pay for a re-design to a fiber-optic gyro.
