static and fatigue properties of 21-6-9 cres tubing
looking for some static and fatigue properties for 21-6-9 cres tubing. the information needs to be public domain and referenceable.

heres a little information that might help.
a specification that defines 21-6-9 tubing is ams 5562. i assume you have access to this. uns number is s21904. i don't have access to the ams spec any more so i can't say if it gives the mechanicals.
getting the fatigue number is a tough one. my carpenter book gives a yield strength of 52 - 62 ksi for an annealed bar depending on size and test direction. there is also some data on cold drawn wire but again nothing on fatigue. suggest you contact carpenter directly.
ams 5562 is solution treated tube. min ftu 90 ksi, min t2 50 ksi. e = 45%.
ams 5561 is cold drawn tube (either seamless or welded). ftu 142 - 162 ksi, t2 120 ksi. e = 20%.
no fatigue props in asmh. could try atlas of fatigue curves or sae fatigue design handbook. note that 21-6-9 is aka nitronic 40. |
