anchor bolt sleeve grout
sleeved bolts are typically used for spheres, vertical vessels, pumps, compressors, etc. the sleeves, as recommended, should be filled with a pliable and non-bonding material.
two things are obscure to me: 1. what is the popular filling material; 2. how the sleeves can be grouted with the material after equipment installation. it seems difficult.

please give some more info. when i worked on spheres before we used high yield steel bolts (32mm diam) with anchor plates and steel pipe sleeves (75mm diam). we then grouted the bolts/sleeves with cementitious grout. the grouting is achieved by having a gap of around 30mm between the base plates of the sphere columns and the top of the foundation. basically make formwork so that you grout from one side and force all air out the other side.
when you talk about debonding i am wondering if you are considering prestressing the bolts. are they to be prestressed?

bolt prestress is required for vibrating machine. if your sphere is sensitive to wind or the anchor bolts subject to stress reversal, preload is also necessary. when you fill the sleeves with cementitious grout then the bolts become non-ductile. see the artical attached. |
