chinese building code
does anyone have any idea where i could find a translation of the chinese building code? i have a small industrial component to design in bohai and need to make sure that the seismic and wind loads i use are in line with their code.
thanks,
funny you ask. our comapny was looking into doing some work in china as well. appparently, the chinese steel codes are very hard to come by in english. we asked the staad guys since they seem to have a lot of codes. they said they have the chinese steel and concrete codes, but their chinese office maintains and supports it. they said the both the japanese and chinese codes are not in english.
thanks for the info. i do probably need the chinese steel codes, but i'm more interested in their version of asce 7, i.e. i want to verify the loads. i'll contact staad as that sounds like a good lead, but we'll see.
one of our colleagues had a chat with the staad guys from singapore. the asce 7 equivalent in china is a code called gb 50009-2001. the seismic code is separate and called gb 500011-2001. they are not in english.
ok thanks,
you are confirming my suspicions here. i've run across those designations in my searching (4 hits on yahoo were all in chinese characters except for the english designation of the code) i wonder if there are any english associations which publish world wide seismic maps.
i guess i keep on looking
thanks again
