concrete beam with steel fibres
hi all,
how would one go about determining the shear capacity of a concrete beam while taking into consideration the contribution of steel fibres to the beam's shear capacity? i am completely stumped on this one as i have never used steel fibres before.

aci 318-08 allows steel fibers to replace shear reinforcing as long as f'c<6000psi, h is no greater than 24" and vu is not greater than phi*2*sqrt(f'c)*b*d. the steel fibers need to be at least 100lbs per cubic yard of concrete. be careful though, no testing has been done in concrete members exposed to chlorides. |
