cutting glu-lam-connection
i have an existing glu-lam roof beam that is being cut to accomodate new construction. i want to bear the cut end on a new masonry wall. it will not be at the top of the wall. it will be "built into" the wall. any advice on how to make this connection?
check out our whitepaper library.
the beam should bear on steel embed plate. the embed plate should have side plates. provide bolts horizonatally through the beam. this is very basic. more information is required to get any more detailed. you can also look in a timber construction manual for help.
thats exactly how i detailed it. i was trying to avoid leaving a void in the masonry for the connection but the loads on the wall are light and they will have to build around it. thanks.
you could also design a face mount connection. the post installed anchors will stick out beyond the face of the wall.
