deflection of sloped double glazed unit (45 deg)
anybody have an idea of calculating the deflection of a point fixed sloped double glazed units? the inner pane of the dg unit is supported at the four corners by a point fixed fitting. the unit to be installed 45 degree from the horizontal. size: 2000mm width x 3000mm height. the 36mm thick dg unit is composed of 8mm outer panel + 16mm airspace + 12mm inner panel. please help....
sounds like you would have to have a computer aided finite element analysis. you need to have the material properties, modulous of elasticity, ultimate stresses, etc. or more simply a load test?
test mock up, make the double glazed unit a bathtub and measure the deflection, water unit weight is 62.3 lbs/cuft, use equipment that can pick up sensitive movements. do you know how much load needs to be applied?
it also sounds like the 8mm and 12mm glazing will act seperately, the loaded layer may deflect while the unloaded layer may not, depending on the compression of the air space.
you would have totest it in the flat position, the sloped position would yield less deflection. applying hte load would be more difficult. |
