european sections, bars, and shapes to us equivalent
i've found something that gives the dimensions but w/ the number of shapes required that is a ton of converting mm to in even w/ web and flange measurements, so i'm looking for a chart that shows the us equivalent for beams, channel, etc.
for example...ipe 450 is 9.4 mm web and 14.6 flange but it doesn't say what the us equivalent is...such as a w8x31...just looking to simplify my task.
thanks in advance.
brian
i'd also like to find a book that has such information as a future reference, but a quicky internet link chart would be great for the moment.
thanks!
i found my own answer...
"does aisc have a reference for international steel and shape properties?
international shape properties aisc does not have any information on the properties of international steel shapes. many countries have their own series of structural steel shapes not based on astm a6/a6m. because of this, international shapes cannot be exactly cross-referenced to u.s. shapes. international steel properties aisc does not have any information on the grades of steel produced by other countries. because many countries have produced their own steel standards, it is not generally possible to cross-reference u.s. astm specifications with other standards. that is, it is not always possible to say that another country's grade x steel is equivalent to astm grade y steel."
however, perhaps a cross-reference exists for what appears to be a european standard, as it uses "ipe" numbers among others? i'm looking to use an equivalent astm shape for estimating purposes.
now for a break, i'm sick of searching the net... |
