hollowcore roof diaphragm
i am working on a structure that has load bearing masonry walls with a hollowcore roof. where can i find the diaphragm capacity of an 8" hollowcore with 2" topping and reinforcing? or is it as simple as finding my chord force and designing reinforcing such as in a beam?
check out our whitepaper library.
contact your local hollowcore supplier. they should have the test data that you are looking for.
spancrete is one of our local suppliers in this area and i know they have datasheets with this info. and their engineers can also walk you thru the procedure.
try the following book. you'll want chapter 4.
mnl-126-98
pci manual for the design of hollow core slabs
i use the book that ucfse mentioned. the pci design handbook also might be useful.
if you're using spancrete:
you can analyze it as a deep beam to get your chord forces. the keyways, along with the topping reinforcing will resist the shear.
ucfse's reference, and the pci manual is a good one. if you don't have it re-post and i'll try to guide you through the procedure. |
