horn formula a
we are currently in the process of analyzing a steel base plate for a telecommunications monopole, and have stumbled across a reference to horn formula a.  does anyone have any information they could provide on this?  if so, it would be more than appreciated.
do a google search on "horn formula", it gets a number of direct hits right off the bat.
thanks for the info, but trust me, i already tried that route.  if it would have worked i wouldn't have been here ;) the results from that google search return information on a horn formula that doesn't apply to base plate stresses, but only to some mathematical formulas.  again, thanks for your reply, though.
sorry.  not having the reference which you have, i had no way of knowing if the formula in question was specifically a base plate formula or something more general.  maybe that's why the "a" is there.
what's the reference?

unfortunately, the only reference is the mention of using horn formula a.  i wish we were provided with more information, but we're stuck.
it says use horn formula a for what exactly?  what document is this written in?  (ya just never know what might trigger someone's mind.)

okay, doing some detective work on my lunch hour here...
there is a standard, ansi/tia/eia-222, 鈥淪tructural standards for steel antenna towers and antenna support structures.鈥?nbsp; it apparently includes base plates.  i've never seen it, maybe that's what you're reading in.  or maybe it contains the elusive formula!
it is maintained by the tr-14.7 committee of the tia (tia- telecommunications industry association, tiaonline.org).
if this was in some of dan horn's stuff, he might have just called it "formula a", not "horn formula a".
i can't thank you enough - i appreciate the information!
