masonry design for siesmic
how do we determine that a reinforced masonry wall has nominal ductility? this is in order to determine the force modification factor "r", for seismic design.
your input is highly appreciated.
masonry is known to be brittle material, even if you reinforce it it is not recommended for sismic design, unless....... you wnat to use it

yes in my case i have to use masonry based on the architects requirements. the force modification factor "r" i was asking about is used in the nbc (canadian code) for seismic design. the code states values for r if the masonry wall has nominal ductility and other values for reinforced and unreinforced masonry walls. so i wanted to know the definition of "nominal ductility" and how to determine this status. |
