max. span lenght in masonry structures
hi!
is there any limiting maximum spanlenght for masonry wall structure? i'm just curious of 30 ft span of beam on second floor supported by 8" masonry wall below.
check out our whitepaper library.
it just have to be designed or analyzed professionally.
if necesaary the strength of the block (net compressive strength) can be pushed up beyond usable limits.
it depends on the wall height, wind, seismic and any induced moments from details and loading conbinations. also the loading on thefloor area above.
it is not like a cookie cutter stud wall design. it just takes a qualified engineer.
kosrae,
from this and your other post, it is obvious that you need some help. as the builder or the builder's representative, you should not have to make these decisions. as the contracting officer has terminated the designer, he needs to find a qualified engineer to take his place. |
