new simplified wind analysis
does anyone know how to develop a roof uplift using the new simplified procedure (method 1) of asce7-05?
it is listed on figure 6-2. add up e to h.
never, but never question engineer's judgement
the part that doesn't make snese is 6.4.2.1.1 "...while assuming zones e, f, g, and h are all equal to 0 psf." why would you assume them equal to 0 psf?
after you plug in 6.4.2.1 and the results of abcd are less than 10 psf, just use 10 psf and say efgh =0. i never really affect me because i am never at this situation. hopefully i understand it correctly.
never, but never question engineer's judgement
so if abcd are less than 10 psf, you design the walls for 10 psf and assume 0 for the roof uplift, efgh?
thats how i understand it. but there is still component and cladding pressure (to figure out the nailing of the roof plywood to rafters if this is a timber building)
never, but never question engineer's judgement
so what's the different between desiging the roof for regular uplift, and designing it as components & cladding? |
