obsolete sheet pile section(s)
i'm looking at a retaining structure, built circa 1950. the sheet piling was bethlehem's ap3 u/arch pile. corners, from old plans, were called-out as cp40, which i assume means "corner pile, 40" or similar.
i've got a couple of good resources showing my the properties and a profile of the ap3 pile, but nothing on a cp40. web searching isn't pinning it down, though i did find a neat paper on interlock strengths (off topic, but interesting).
thanks in advance to anyone out there is you can lead me in the right direction!
check out our whitepaper library.
bethlehem steel sheet piling catalog 433 (no date) page 9 shows a cp40 as weighing 30.7 lbs. per foot.  the note says cp40 is made from section sp4.  it recommends that with sections ap3, etc use corners 40 and 41.  dimensions of cp40 are shown on page 16 and notes say cp40 can be used with zp 38, zp 32 and zp 27 sections.
i hope this helps.
you hope it helps???
that's about as perfect as it can get! thanks, bgce!
i know it's asking a lot, but can you post a scan of those pages here? i'll give you another star...
davevikingpe - i have put together a package of info on cp 40 corners from bethlehem catalogs from 1948 and 1970. note that the designation of ap3 sheeting changed during that time to pma 22 (only the designation changed, not the sheeting dimensions or properties). here is the link for the 2 mb, zipped file
is this not the greatest website in the universe???
