out of plane seismic forces on a bearing wall
having trouble finding where in the asce 7-02 code it defines how you calculate the out of plane seismic loads on a bearing wall.  does someone know offhand?
i interpret the equivalent lateral force procedure to only distribute the base shear to the diaphragms, not to individual components.

you have to take those diaphragm forces and distribute them to the shear walls based on either a rigid or flexible diaphragm analysis.

there seems to be a giant hole in asce 7-02.  i think that the 2003 ibc still has the procedure to calculate component loads.
mike, thanks for the quick reply, but im talking about out of plane force, not in plane shearwall forces.
will definitely look closer at the ibc2003.  didnt think they had much seismic guidance in there anymore
it is in 9.5.2.6.2.8.
thanks, no wonder why i didnt see it, the title of that section is "anchorage of concrete or masonry".
