physical properties of large pipe
i need to analyze a 18"dia pipe, but am unable to find out the physical properties such as area, section modulus, and moment of inertia. the asd only shows up to 12" dia.
i could calculate it, but i don't know the exact thickness either. does anyone know where i could find this info without buying a text. i tried googling it and was unsuccessful.
thanks.
check out our whitepaper library.
i don't understand what you just posted...you don't know the pipe wall thickness? if you don't, then you can't calculate any properties. if you know the schedule of the pipe, then the wall thickness can be known and properties calculated from any mechanics book.
for 18" dia. pipe:
schedule no. wall thickness (in.)
10 .25
20 .312
std pipe .375
30 .437
40 .562
60 .75
80 .937
100 1.156
thanks jae,
i know the pipe is schedule 40 and from your info i will be able to figure out what i need. |
