pouring concrete in slab-column joint?
because of high axial column force i want to pour the column with much higher concrete strength than slab. so, there are two concrete mixes in slab-column joint and i'm wondering if there are any problems to achieve column high strength concrete continuity across the slab? special column concrete mix design, etc.
tahnk you in advance
if the column concrete is much stronger than the slab concrete, you may have to "puddle" concrete of higher strength in the vicinity of the column. the requirement varies depending on your code. the australian code accepts that proper transmission of the axial force is achieved if the ratio of specified column concrete strength to that of the floor does not exceed 2.0, provided that restraint conditions are adhered to. |
