rebar weight
what is the weight of a piece of rebar? (#3, #4, #5, #6, #7, and #8)
i am also curious as to the comparitive price/ lb of rebar to w steel beam shapes. just trying to get a feel for the cost with the rising steel prices.
thanks
check the appendices to a steel handbook - also, i believe in aashto m31.
aci318-99, appendix e lists rebar weights.
vendors will send you a chart as well.
steel weighs 490 pounds per cubic foot. dividing by 144, it's 3.4 lb/sq. in./ft. works equally well for rebar or structural steel shapes.
for steel prices check these enr links:
#3 = .376 lbs/lf
#4 = .668 lbs/lf
#5 = 1.043 lbs/lf
#6 = 1.502 lbs/lf
#7 = 2.044 lbs/lf
#8 = 2.670 lbs/lf
#9 = 3.400 lbs/lf
#10 = 4.303 lbs/lf
#11 = 5.313 lbs/lf
