repair of existing siding system
i looking at repairing an existing siding system. see the attached sketch for the detail. it's basically an exterior siding panel, and interior panel, with a sub-girt in between at 4' on center. this is an industrial building. anyways, some of the siding panels on the other elevations blew off and we were brought in to repair/reinforce the existing siding. when looking into the tension capacity of the screws per aisi, namely pull-out and pull-over (section e4.4 of aisi), can i take into account the total thickness of the second layer being joined as 3 times the thickness of the panel (due to the lap joint in the attachment), or at least twice the thickness due to the multiple layers in the lap joint? there is no commentary regarding this in the aisi, so it's a judgement call. i'm inclined to use 2 layers for the pull-out capacity.....
