revit correspondence issues
my company just started working with revit structure due to a few of our architectural clients doing so.  i understand that the architect can set up worksets so that when i pull his file off the server i cannot change what he has.  i can then creat my own workset, call it say "structural elements", then we can both save back to the central file and see any changes or issues.  i understand this part of it for the most part (as much as you actually can with revit).
my question is for the structural engineers that have set this situation up.  we are having trouble actually finding a place for us to save this central file so that the engineer and architect can both read from it.  all our clients are out of office architects and we do not both have access to the same network.  i am just wondering if anyone else out there has a solution as to setting up a network where both the remote architect and engineer can access the central file and read back to it.  thanks to anyone that can help.
we're starting to use revit as well.  i believe there is a website either through autodesk or somebody like that where you can upload your central file and share it between you and your clients.  you might ask autodesk or your re-seller, assuming you purchased revit through a re-seller.  hope this helps.
loading and updating the central file is slow enough on a local network, i cannot imagine how slow it will be through the internet.
you should create your own revit model and the architect creates their own model.  you then just link each others models and check for coordination issues.  pretty much just like an x-ref in autocad.  what i've done before is that each team
i do not use revit but i do share autocad files with architects - mostly one-way.  my isp provides pretty good ftp support with decent security (to keep the architect's from each other's files) where we could open the file within autocad and edit the files that way, but we normally use ftp to move lots of large files - like photographs.  otherwise, we use e-mail.
