roof diaphragm reinforcing
i have a roof diaphragm that has chord forces that are larger than the deck attachment can resist. does anyone know of a cost effective way to reinforced the diaphragm other that adding more frames?
could you possibly add bracing to supplement the diaphragm?  do your chord
the chord
it is just the connections that are a problem?  because if it is, i still would not try and increase the strength of the fastening, but rather jike's suggestion of bracing to supplement.  trying to increase your fastening strength on a diaphragm would be very costly, whereas something like a reidbrace system (great product, very easy to use) would be typical (ie: familiar to contractors) and not very labour intensive.
good luck,

tkil10,
could you describe a bit how you are calculating "chord forces" in your deck-to-chord connections?  i'm not sure i follow what your issue is.
