safety factor as per aashto lts on full scale testing light
hello every one.
i use aashto often for light pole calculation.
however, i designed a structural steel pole with a aluminum knuckle at the center (to allowed swivel)
i performed calculation as per asshto for my steel section but for my knuckle at the center here come the issues (a really complex form) i try with finite element analysis but i prefer to make a full scale testing instead.
i use the max moment provide by wind, deadload... and use a safety factors of 2 same as the frp (fiber reinforced pole) in asshto lts-4 to applied the correct loading at the tip of the pole.
so i assume if the knuckle can withstand a maximum loading with a safety factor, my design should be ok.
anyone can guide me throuh this
appreciate
