seismic data on plans for metal buildings
the ibc requires certain seismic data to be on the plans.  when dealing with a metal building system, we won't know some of that data until after the metal building engineer has determined it.  how do you typically handle this on your plans, "tbd by metal building manufacturer" or something else?
shouldn't you know this (maybe most of the parameters anyway) before-hand since it is more a function of the site soils, site location and building use? i think it may be referring to seismic site class, seismic design category, sds, sd1, etc. but i am not for certain. where does ibc state this and i'll gladly take a look myself? (i don't generate plans so i've never really paid attention that it is specifically required on the plans)
there is a section in the code, 106.3.4.2, called "deferred submittals" that addresses this.  you state that a component is to be submitted later with the code requirements stated on the submittal.  you review the deferred submittal and pass it on to the code official.
i agree with uncle jed, and sometimes the foundation design has to follow the metal building design.  it is not unusual for a correction letter be issued until the building and foundation designs are complete.  i am not sure why people apply for permits before the metal building design is complete, except it identifies architectural and site corrections earlier than later in the project.

thanks for the replies.
msucog, yes i have most of the information.  i don't know, for instance, what type of moment frame the mbs engineer will choose, so i can't really put the response modification factor on the plans, or the base shear for that matter.  i have all of the inputs that are not dependent on the building system, ss, s1, and so on.
