seismic load
please refer to page 144 asce-7-05 and attached sketch.
seismic demands on non-structural components.
q1. in eq 13.3-1, z = 12 feet and h = 50 feet?
q2. when i find out fp.i divide it with two as tank has two legs and apply this seismic loads in proper combination to w steel beam?
am i on track or totally wacked out?
it looks to me like the section you're referring to is set up for a small tank in a larger structure. if that's what you have, then the h should be to the roof of the structure (not to the roof of the tank) , and the z or zeta to the point where the tank is supported on the structure (or could be where the tank legs intersect the tank, if the tank legs are analyzed with the structure).
if the beam, tank and supports as shown are all there is to the arrangement, i think you need to refer to different sections of asce 7- look for the "non-building structures" section in particular. |
