sidewalk repair
during a tunnel inspection, it was discovered that a portion of the approach sidewalk had a large depression (surrounded by cracks and spalls). the depression in the sidewalk retains water near the wall, and the client would like to come up with a solution that drains the water back towards the roadway. the obvious solution would be to re-grade the sidewalk, but our client would like a simpler and less expensive solution. has anyone encountered a similar problem in the past? if so, what solution did you come up with?
remove the mistake, regrade with suitable compaction and repave with a positive slope. leaving the mistake in place is to allow future failures of the subgrade. |
