siesmic mass
hi all
in case i got water tanks and swimming pool in the builidng, the water mass should be considered as lamped mass?
for small tanks (typical residential water heater, etc.) it should be fine to treat them as lumped masses or just smear the mass into the diaphragm. for large tanks and swimming pools, you may need to consider sloshing effects. the applicable building code should reference approved standards for seismic design of tanks and liquid-containing structures. |
