structural codes in spain
hi all
i have a question regarding what structural codes in spain. primarily regarding steel but possibly also concrete.
has the eurocodes been adopted yet?
i have seen on an "official" site that they should be available. but i'm curious regarding if they are being used by the engineers yet. is it a bad idea to suggest then for a project? can the client (public) refuse our use of them?
any help is appreciated.
thomas
eurocodes have been adopted
sorry thomash, i was in a hurry before.
eurocodes have been addopted in spain, at the moment there is a transition period where both the spanish codes and eurocodes are acceptable. after the end of the year, eurocodes are mandatory.
it has been a while since i left spain, but i have checked with a colleage and she tells me that there are a lot of engineers already using them and many engineers are going through training to addapt to them.
i would certainly think that suggesting them for a project would be not only a good idea but sensible. and no, in principle they can not refuse you using them.
hi kelowna
thanks for your help.
then we'll probably suggest eurocodes and see if the client agrees. like you say, it make sense since they are being implemented now.
regards
