structural dynamics book
hello folks,
i am interested in learning more about structural dynamics. i would appreciate some book recommendations. ideally, i would like a book that covers all types of structures (civil, aero, mech, vehicular, marine, etc).
thanks.

i don't think there is a single book that will do it for you. rather you might have to have a few books. my favorites (which are based on a distinctly structural bias):
basic dynamics: mario paz's book, structural dynamics, theory and computation.
response spectra: the response spectra method by ajaya kumar gupta is by far the best book on this method that i've read. but, the seaoc blue book has some good commentary as well.
i have yet to see a really good book on time history analysis. so, i'm interested in seeing what other folks recommend.
chopra "dynamics of structures" and clough "dynamics of structures" are the two textbooks i have.
"chopra 'dynamics of structures' and clough 'dynamics of structures' are the two textbooks i have. "
same here, plus mierovitch. i find myself going to chopra 95% of the time. mierovitch is good for a few things, such as complex modes.
chopra is that book i used for my structural dynamics class in school. it is pretty good. a textbook that acts as a companion to a certain computer software would be the most helpful for practical implementation, but i doubt one exists. |
