the wind coefficients on a mwfrs of a multi-gabled roof
i have a problem in determining the wind coefficients on a mwfrs of a multi-gabled roof for a warehouse. one of my friends advised me to use the coefficients addressed in asce for low rise buildings, but i am not convinced. the ware house is the biggest in the world as my team leader tolled me (180x850m) and divided into several parts, each one is (180x180m). asce addresses only multi-gabled roof for c&c but not for a mwfrs (i don't know the reason). please, is there anyone can help or give his advise.
thanks,
m.nour

what is the height of gable roof? if you have asce 7-05, check page 48. it gives mwfrs for gable roof.
thanks dgkhan. the height of the warehouse is 10.75 m, also the asce-05 page 48 addressing only gabled roof not multi span-gabled roof like the case of c&c in page 60.

height is less than 60 feet so page 60 and 58 is applicable. p-48 is for all heights. compare the results for gcp for page 58 ~ 60. multi-span coefficients are twice than single span. so you can use page 48 and double the gcp.
if you cannot sleep on it than use page 50 gcp. it's overkill but ...
hope you got your answers, otherwise i am waiting
thanks again dgkhan. page 60 and 58 is applicable for components and cladding (c & c) only not for main wind force resisting system. p-48 is for all heights of main wind force resisting systems, but not for multi span-gabled roof. i want a provision or a figure that addressing the case of the multi span-gabled roof for a main wind force resisting system.

you will not get what you are looking for. that's why we as engineers are hired to use our engineering judgement.
if you re read my last answer, i gave you the options you have. now if you want to go beyond that than either go for method three and have wind tunnel test or write mr. kishore c. mehta, the authority on wind loads and main writer for asce wind portion.
nour75,
i don't know the answer to your question, but might sugest you also try other groups as well. seaint.org or other sea organizations, not to mention google. also, the method three suggestion may save money in the long run.
i've posted a reply in building information modelling...
