usgs ground accelerations - what is the "max considered eq"?
hope someone here can help me out on what i think is a very basic questions.
the usgs maps in the ibc code refer to the "maximum considered earthquake ground motion" for short period and long period response accelerations. fundamentally, does anyone know what the probability of these ground motions occuring, such as a 2% probability of being exceeded in 50 years? i can't actually find this written anywhere. am i missing the boat on something?
