wallboard (aka drywall aka gyprock) shearwall openings
hello all;
i was sure i had seen a provision for ignoring the effects of opening in a timber frame and drywall shear wall; and if memory serves it stipulated that the opening be restricted to a 1/3 height of wall height and a 1/3 of length opening width. does anyone recall seeing same, and do you know of a reference for this guidance?
thanks in advance,

check out our whitepaper library.
alternatively, i would really like to hear what you do consider as a restriction when working with openings in drywall shearwalls.
thanks,

the only shearwall with opening provisions that i know of apply to osb or plywood sheathing. with gwb, i assume each segment of wall between windows is a separate shearwall.
