wood fasteners
does anyone know of any other trusted wood fastener manufactures besides simpson and usp?
check out our whitepaper library.
try this link:
may i ask why? it seems like simpson always take care their customers (or specifiers) very well and they seem to be a head of the game all the time. i never see a reason not to specify their products.
bowman, silver, kant sag.
i exclusively spec simpson though, and have for years due to the tech support and testing backup of the products.

tech support, testing, free classes (with good lunch), etc. and they are always good with sending the newest catalogs.
i have always trusted simpson as well. however, i am working on a city project and they require at least 3 different manufacturers to be called out in the spec. it's kind of a pain.
i guess you can't just put "or approved equal"?
it looks like their website is under construction but timbertie makes connectors very similar to simpson. you just have to be careful because their capacities are slightly lower.
this is what happens when accountants get too much say in engineering practices.
it will be the cheapest ones that get used by the builder, not necessarily the most appropriate.
