wood stud syp1 to spf2 = $$ savings
does anyone have any ball-park figures for the cost savings for changing wood studs from southern yellow pine grade #1 to spruce pine fir #2 ? cost per unit? for a small one story job abt. 50'x100' with l.b. stud walls and press plated trusses. thanks in advance.
i am not sure that it is all about the $. i think some of it is availability plus spf is softer and easier to work with. this is a florida opinion fwiw.
call a local lumber yard for pricing and availability. if you are using 2x4 or 2x6 specifying stud grade spf is probably the most economical choice, unless you need a higher grade for strength.
depending on the design, the stronger lumber could save you money.
