batchprocess - v1.6.3
update 24/03/09:
v1.6.3 is out now with new advanced save as filename modification feature, printer settings for scale to fit, ability to merge an entire job (not just one drawing or model) into a single pdf, and more. check out the new help file for more info.
update 18/02/09:
the new minor release fixes some issues with x64 and improves performance as well as adding a brand new advanced replace templates function for changing the drawing template of drawings on a sheet by sheet basis, with rules allowing for advanced template selection. handy for those releasing drawings that require a different logo or border or just needing to update to the latest templates.
update 20/11/08:
batchprocess 1.6 is now out with bug fixes and a new function "run macro" to run any swp macro at any stage of a bp job on all or certain models/drawings.
to run a macro first add it in tools->macros, specifying the location, name, and method just like you would in solidworks (the method is the module name then a . then the function name, for example macro11.main). then in the main bp window click the run macro button, start you job, and select which macros to run.
update 15/09/08:
just to keep you all up to date; batchprocess is now a certified solidworks solutions partner and is aiming for gold partner status shortly. i would like to thank all of the users for their continues support and input of which without none of this would have been possible. all the feedback has been the reason for the quality and functionality of bp and i look forward to the continued growth of the product.
can this do properties for drawings or just models and assemblies?
i have had problems with other macros failing when switching from part to assembly and from 3d to drawings. so yours is awesome that it can switch all over the place and still keep functioning. another thing that i have seen is that when you click off of solidworks and go to a seperate program that the macro or batch program really hates you. yours did awesome even when i was checking email and surfing the internet.
a must is exporting every configuration for parasolids and models. just exporting the active one isn't enough because opening and saving an assembly can change the active configuration model. stock machining or final machined makes a difference on all kinds of components.
a browse for recently opened and directory search would be great. i am not a big fan of opening the top assembly as sometimes i have tooling that is unassociated and it would not pick that up.
i do not want to spend a half hour putting in properties it would be nice if you could scan templates for them.
i do like the big icons but not the check boxes below them but this is just window dressing.
how much per seat is it? we have 6 seats here.

paul,
thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated. as i am the developer i tend to incorporate 100% of suggestions into each release of batchprocess, so as for your request to set properties in drawings, yes i can add that very promptly. also, for parasolids, just let me know more details of these 2 requests to my email contact@angelsix.com and i shall add them to v1.2.
currently the model list control can fill with all open files, or an assembly and its parts (to flick between modes click the "references" button above the list). ability to load a directory and sub, or a text file list, or any other format including adding single entries to the list is all possible and if it becomes a request i shall add that also!
also, for a per seat price, again email me first. i sell subscriptions not products, so the batchprocess still belongs entirely to angelsix, but you buy a yearly license, just like solidworks itself. included in that is updates throughout the year for free (if you purchase a maintenance license).
i look forward to hearing from you.
ps. are you on sw2007 or 2008?
paul,
i have since added the ability for the list to be gathered from:
- references of current assembly / file
- currently open files
- recent opened files
- list (from a saved list)
- directory (from any folder)
as you will gather i have added the ability to load/save a model lists content for later loading.
today i will be adding the ability to manually manipulate the list by adding/deleting items in any mode (except references).
once i recieve your email i will also add the ability to export configurations based on a black/white list of configuration names too.
luke,
very nice software for the beginning, but i' m wondering where is the 64bit version?
are you going to make it and when?
or, you have no 64bit crosscompiler to do that? if so i can help.
regards, basil

luke,
i have just set up the 64bit release and realized the add-in module have not been registered! trying to register it manually, i got the the message 'no types were registered' by regasm and the classical 'the addon could not be initialized' by solidworks. so, the 64bit version has on integration with sw. further, the installation package only accepts solidworks installed at a default setup location, otherwise it simply throws a message about solidworks absent and exits. fix these bugs please.
basil.

basil,
thats strange. first, can you check your registry location:
hklm\software\solidworks\addins\
see if batchprocess is in there.
also, the 64bit version will search the entire program files (the 64bit location) for solidworks. if you have installed sw 32bit on a 64bit windows it will not find it. where is your solidworks installed? i will soon be changing the check for a registry enrtry instead of file location, this will be much more robust.
to all,
both version installers have been re-uploaded with new builts. the new builds will pick up any solidworks installation on any platform (hopefully ). also the 64bit version _should_ now register correctly on install.
any feedback on the new 64bit installation will help.
luke
luke,
i will have a look on your latest build tonight and post a report.
regards, basil

basil,
- revision build has just been uploaded 10 minutes ago for someone, as they wanted to export as a part/assembly template, so the model save as list now has form tool and template options.
