drawings - cycle through dimensions
does anybody have or know of anything that will cycle through all the dimensions of a drawing and add appended text or numbers? for example, something that goes through and numbers them 1 through whatever.
the reason i'm asking this is because we add hex inspection balloons to each dimension for our quality department and for ease of communication with outsourced vendors and discussing specific dimensions. now this makes life downstream great, but then adds the headache up front of manully numbering each dimension.
now i can't believe this hasn't come up before and isn't some kind of industry standard. does anyone have any code that i can use or edit to do this?
or, does anyone have a good solution for this situation?
thanks for any help.

try this thread:
hey josh you rock! i saw this posted not too long ago but didn't put 2 & 2 together at the time.
there isn't any way that i could add the hexagon symbol in the code is there? also, how difficult would it be to have it cycle dimensions automatically?
thanks a lot!

the first macro (posted as text) does all dimensions automatically. however, the order in which they are done is pretty random.
the problem with adding your own custom symbols is that if you open the drawing on a system that doesn't have those same symbols in its gtol.sym file, the symbols won't show up.
i'll get you eh steve, if it's the last thing i dooooo!

thanks for the info that's good to know. looks like i'll have to force them to use another symbol and fight the people that can't stand change....
and yea, the random part is something that i would expect but it may not be an issue.
thanks again.
