macro for adding custom/configuration properties
hello sw users,
i'm in the need for a marco to add custom properties into a sldprt. file. we have added some more custom properties to our startpart files and would like to use the functionality of a macro to add any the new custom properties to our old files.
also, i was trying to record my own marco for adding custom properties found within a configuration. i was having a hard time creating one within sw. is it possible...
thanks,

justin,
what you are after is definitly possible, and there are alot of examples out there. just do a search for in google "custom properties.swp" something like that or even just in this form. i think you will get alot to choose from.

justin,
also note that the solidworks task scheduler in 2009 allows you to add custom properties as a batch operation. this may get you what you want without having to do any programming.

if you want to add the new properties to 100/1000s of parts in a second use batchprocess. just open up the startpart with the new custom properties in it, then start bp, and select yes to load the current model, then click the folder button and select the folder(s) with the old parts in, then just select every part in the list (ctrl+a) or just the ones you want, including the startpart, right-click, select custom properties... then click the button to the right of the ok button with the + symbol to create non-existing custom properties to any files that do not already have them, then click ok and the job is done. for the help manual to describe this just press f1 in bp
