overwriting custom properties
hello all,
i'm looking to create or download an existing marco that will overwrite an existing part/assem/drawing file's custom properties with my own set.
this is to update legacy files, and imported files to match newly created templates.
thanks for the help,
i have created something that may help. you will have to edit the macro to suit your needs though.

i tried your macro, whenever i try it everything works fine till i toggle the accept feature and my sw shhuts down. any tips into what i am doing wrong.
thanks
well, there may be a few things.
1) in the macro itself, i have the excel file linked to a location at work. you will have to edit the code and point it to where you have the excel file saved.
2) what version of excel are you running? you may have to update the reference used in the macro. to use it on my home pc, i had to change the reference (tools/references...) from microsoft excel 11.0 object library (my work version) to microsoft excel 10.0 object library (my home version).
hope this solves the problem. if not, let me know.
tony
it was my object library, i didnt have excel 10.0 but i unchecked 11.0 and checked it again and it mysteriously started to work. very cool program and thanks for the speedy reply.

not a problem chris - glad you like it. if you have any questions about customizing it, just let me know. i really didn't want to link anything to the excel sheet, but i though this was the only way i could think of, to let users that didn't know vb update the macro.
hi tony,
could you direct to where i can download you custom property macro.
i have started developing a macro myself and it would be good to see how someone else approached the subject. to start off i will use a simple form but later i would like to progress it to a property manager page (alot more work, but more impressive)
thanks in advance,
declan.
here you go. sorry it took me so long to respond to you. let me know if you have any problems.
