automatically update views
i'm trying to set up a drawing sheet that will update the way the assembly is displayed based on some user input. i want the isometric view to update so that it displays the correct orientation.
is there a way to have sw update to a named view (i.e. iso1), or reset the standard view orientation (similar to using update standard view) in a design table or macro?
check out our whitepaper library.
what is considered the "correct orientation"?
if it's whatever the user wants, technically it's not an "isometric" view anymore.
you can add a "model view" based on the current orientation.

the "correct orientation" is determined by the customer, using a submittal and is part of the product number. the submittal is drawn using various isometric style orientations. i want to quickly update this for drawing checking purposes and a quick way to send the exact product specs to the customer. we've had problems with an engineer sending a standard 3 view + isometric view (default sw) and the customer gets confused about orientation.
would it work to create a named view in the assembly that has the desired orientation and then set the drawing view to the named assembly view?

that's where i am now. i've set 12 isometric style views named after the different customer ordered configurations. i'm looking for the convenience of having the view update when the engineer enters in all the other data for the product. |
