import pdm card dimensions to model
i am wondering if it is possible to create a card in pdmworks that allows you to fill in an id, od, and thickness and then it will create a configuration to a already existing file and use the dimensions imported on the card????
what do you mean by a "card"?
chris
solidworks/pdmworks 08 3.1
autocad 08
the template card that would be created when you would be creating a new part with the pdm system.  this card would hold the data that would say the material vendor size ... etc  i was wondering if you could import data with a macro or a add in that would create a simple model from the sizes inputed on the template card
i'm going to assume that you're talking about pdmworks workgroup.  this isn't used to create files in solidworks but rather manages them.  data in pdmworks is largely a reflection of the solidworks file so a "card" really won't get you far in my opinion.
speaking in general this might be accomplished via some combination of the pdmworks and solidworks api.  i would write a macro launched within solidworks that gives me a form (i.e. card) with input fields.  then once you plug in the values hit a command button that creates my model and (optionally) dumps it into pdmworks.
if you do a lot of this type of thing then you also might consider driveworks.
hope this is helps,
chrisg
