what type of file is this??
i have a whole bunch of files that start out with the following two symbols: ~$ {file name}.sldasm
these files correspond with other solidworks documents, what are these and should they be deleted or what should i do with them.
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.
find a job or post a job opening
it means the files are open. if your application or computer crashes while the files are open, they stay for backups reasons. once you open a file after a crash, and everything if ok, you may go back and delete the files with the ~$.

the tilde files are generated by windows. they are a text file with the user id of the person who has the file open.
windows uses this to tell you the file is already open. the windows message tells you who has the file open, the tilde file is where the message box gets its info from.
they can be deleted.

you can only delete the ~$ files if the "parent" file isn't open. you can also hide them by opening windows explorer->tools->folder options and clicking on the 'view' tab. under files and folder/hidden files and folders, select 'do not show...'
