gd&t onsite instruction
hello,
i am interested in setting up an onsite instructional course in gd&t for myself and my group of me's. i have googled and come up with tons of crap. i am hoping that someone on these boards can help to filter some things out and possibly make some suggestions.
i talked with some engineers at my previous company and they took this kind of course and it was taught by a fellow named norman w. cutler (not sure of the spelling). my buddies told me his company was loosely named dimensional engineering and that it seemed to be a one man operation. all of my searches for this person/company have come up empty.
i'm not neccessarily looking for this particular person/company but any reputable course/instruction that would be willing to come onsite would be awesome.
my company is located in newport, ri for reference.
thanks.
adam
check out our whitepaper library.
al neumann's gd&t program is tops.
check w/ technical colleges and engineering schools in the area.  i've been through three on-site courses.  all instructors were found through tech colleges by way of a local "manufacturing extension partnership"  ("mep").
honesty may be the best policy, but insanity is a better defense.
thanks,
ive emailed the me department head at a local university of assistance.

ps: tci looks very promising...
i did a course at a local community college and then advance on-site training with tci.  i didn't learn much about gd&t in my college courses....i guess we were to busy learning the theory.  looking back on it now it was most likely because most of the professors didn't have real world design experience like creating technical drawings.

yeah, i am in the same boat. im a new engineer, just started in april where i work in engineering and i didnt learn a single thing about drawings or gd&t. my only knowledge of drawings came from a drafting class i took in junior high school and what i was able to teach myself!
i've also found out that most of the guys i work with here, mostly me's, have never had formal training in drawings or gd&t either hence my reason for wanting to set something up.
adam,
is your management behind using gd&t? what type of products does your company design?
i have noticed that people who do not know gd&t go over board.

a lot of people who use gd&t have never had any training and what a mess. i know that it is not taught that well in universities in canada and sometimes the training you get is taught by someone who is not certified or really knows the subject that well.
good luck in your hunt.

adam,
there are lots of experienced gd&t trainers that would be willing to provide on-site training.  i'm one of them, and i can recommend other possibilities for you if i'm not the right fit.  have a look at my web site (
gary whitmire,
he did training at my place just before i started here, so sadly i missed it, but i've gone through his notes and they're pretty good.
he is/was on the 14.5 committee if i recall correctly.
kenat, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet...
