spot face specifications
i am compiling best practices for bolted joint design. i would like people to share any drawing specifications they use for spot faced holes for bolted joints. i was thinking about flatness, perpendicularity and surface finish. thanks for your help.
cory
check out our whitepaper library.
hope this helps.
cory, one thing to condider would be whether you put a slight chamfer/csk for the slight radius where the shank joins the head on the bolt/screw.
not sure i've ever seen any of the 3 things you explicitly list specifically stated for a spot face. that's not to say they souldn't be but i don't recall seeing it.
we have a chart for c'bores, spotfaces etc. based on the values in machineries for inch counterbores. we use same dia for c'bores and spot faces.
kenat,
also take in account any finish you may add.
