ansi ansi 600 rf
what is ansi 600 rf ?
is it suitable for sd valve offshore ?
check out our whitepaper library.
ali,
there is a change in the applicable standards, as the ansi 600 rf is an obsolete denomination for a type of flange. the correct denomination is asme b16.5(up to 24" nominal pipe size) or asme b16.47 for flanges above 24" nps, class 600#, rf (which stands for raised face). for other details refer to above standards, asme b16.5 and b16.47.

as for suitability for a shutdown valve, depends. if the shutin pressure is more than 1480 psig, or the temperature is over 150 f at the pressure, or if the materials of construction is not compatable with the fluid, if.........
many lines offshore are suitable for asme piping class 600 and raised face flanges. as dcasto stated, the pressure limit depends upon temperature and metalurgy. for example, astm a 216 gr. wcb is within material group 1.1 where class 600 is rated 93.2 bar at 100 degree c. using astm a 216 gr. wcc from material group 1.2 increases the pressure to 103.0 at 100 degree c. however, you wouldn't be able to plan on 103 degree c for the system because many components might not be astm a 216 gr wcc. |
