ansi use of tangent edge lines
looking for feedback regarding the use of "tangent edge" lines in draft views. we are re-evaluating their role in our best practices/drafting standards. typically we've used them for isometric views, and then on a discretionary basis in orthographic views. presently their use is under question, with the possibility of an "all or nothing" policy being proposed. hence the inquiry. i was unable to find anything definitive in ansi (1994) or global engineerings 10th edition drawing requirements manual after a cursory review. any specific standards documentation, as well as company practices on the subject is greatly appreciated.
check out our whitepaper library.

a drawings purpose is to convey data and information. using tangent lines can either clear or cloud an issue, just as hidden lines can.
