adding 1.75" to pc plank for fascia
anyone have any experience with adding to a concrete edge ?  the situation is this: we have a 10" pc plank cantileverd out to support a stone fascia that weighs about 55plf.  the original detail called for a steel angle welded to an embed plate in the plank to support the stone.  for a variety of reasons the edge detail has changed an now we're trying to come up with a way to extend the pc plank about 1-3/4" & support the stone directly off the concrete (with a little help from the angle).   this detail occurs at both the ends and the sides of the plank. doweling back into the plank and installing reinforcement is possible.
the question is this: is there a good bonding agent that can be used to "glue" the 1-3/4" exension to the plank edge in addition to the mechanical connection provided by reinforcement?
thoughts and comments appreciated.
i think i would break out the plank periodically, add some dowels, and try to tie a "monolithic" chunk of concrete back into the plank. perhaps include a longitudinal bar along the edge, too.
sika armatec-110 is an excellent bonding agent.
bonding agents are difficult to work with. some act as bond breakers if they are not installed in the specified time period. others become reactivated with water and lose their strength.
warning: i would avoid bonding agents unless you can be absolutely assured of the bonding agent's performance and the contractor's performance.
how deep is your stone veneer? if it is 4" nominal just corbel the fascia out the 1 3/4". use an extra set of stone anchors as low as the flashing will allow. how is the 10" of pc plank elevation going to be covered?  if it is covered one could bolt a galvanized 1 1/2" by 3" or 4" by 1/4" to the plank edge with 5/16" or 3/8"  ss anchor bolts. if the stone is a common type call the supplier and check to see if they can supply the first course  5"or 6" thick in a timely fashion.  or have a stone fabricator epoxy scraps along the back side of the first course to widen the bearing to your satisfaction.
