cantilever slab / ground beam
i was looking at designing a ground beam with a small cantilevered slab (900mm). the beam would be designed for all loads and torsion from the cantilevered slab off the side of the beam.
i am planning to use light reinforcement in the top of the beam - 10mm bars at 200mm ctrs. each way. (this is also designed ok).
my question is what is the minimum anchorage for the reinforcement from the slab (uk code). at present i have assumed 12x bar diameter past the centre line of the ground beam as you would normally specify for a slab or beam. would this be adequate?

i don't know the uk code, but here is the us, you must develop the bar in the slab on both sides of the face of the beam.  you may need hooks at both ends of each slab bar.

in this case there is no back span. a small cantilever slab projects from one side of the beam only at the top of the beam. as the is no slab on the other side of the beam the beam is designed for torsion to resist the bending. in this case would a 40dia standard tension lap suffice?
you have to check uk code for embedment length. for personal preference, i will bring the slab bars all the way to the back side of the beam with standard hook at bar end to provide better protection.
i stand by my original post.  you must develop the bars within the width of the beam, and within the span of the cantilever.
