capacity of a beam supporting plank
when designing a steel beam to support hollow core plank floor, can this beam be designed as composite, or considering only 1" width is available at the stud location, should the beam be designed as non-composite.
check out our whitepaper library.
i would not assume the beam to be composite. also, the beam will be unbraced between the weld plates on the underside of the hollowcore plank (i usually assume 8' oc).
